Besides taking flight to Penang, you can choose an alternative way to reach Penang . That is by using the train. You can use the train service provided by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM). You can reach Penang from any states in Peninsular Malaysia. Besides that, you can use the service if you are departing from Singapore and Thailand .

 

The train to Penang will stop at Butterworth railway station. The railway station is just nearby the Butterworth Public Bus terminal and also Ferry Terminal. You can take the public bus just few steps away to reach any destination in Butterworth. To go Penang island such Georgetown, you can just walk to the Ferry terminal and take the ferry which will bring you directly to Weld Quay (Penang Ferry Terminal). Then, you can take the public bus or taxis once you step out of the ferry terminal.
