At 830m above sea level, Penang Hill is the highest summit in the island. Penang Hill provides cool retreat and a good view over the island. For visitors with short stay, they are adviced to take the funicular train ride to its peak. Operational since1922, the 30-minutes ride is an adventure by itself. Alternatively, visitors could choose to hike up the hill through the nature trails from the Botanical Gardens. The six kilometers hike takes about 3 to 4 hours. At the top, one would be treated to a panorama of Penang , a picturesque view of colonial villas and a beautiful flower garden and bird park.
