Clan kongsis were associations formed by the Straits Chinese in 19 th century Penang . The Yap clan originated from Fujian province in China . There are two ‘Yap Temples ', both internally connected. The Straits eclectic style building with ‘ Yap Temple ' inscribed on the pediment is the earlier building from 1924. The heritage interior now houses the Yap clan's ancestral tablets. The clan's patron deities are placed in the corner temple building. |
