The Penang Museum building was constructed in two stages in 1896 and 1906. the exhibits relate to Penang's communities and their customs and costumes; to historic places such as the harbour and Fort Cornwallis; to the street of Penang, municipal history, the Penang Riots and the Japanese Occupation; places of worship, and to traditional trade. Old photographs have been enlarged for display. The Penang Museum building was gazette on 19 July 1982, under the Antiquities Act 168/1976, as an Ancient Monument and Historic Site. |
